2025 Presidents Letter

Dear SYHA Families,

As the 2024–2025 season comes to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on a tremendous year for Simsbury Youth Hockey Association and to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped make it possible.

This season, I had the privilege of witnessing every travel team and house program in action—and it was truly inspiring. The SYHA philosophy of development, teamwork, and community continues to thrive, and it’s been a joy to watch our players grow both on and off the ice.

We had much to celebrate this year:

· A huge congratulations to our Pee Wee A team, who were finalist in the CHC Tier 3 State Championship which qualified them to move on and become the New England Regional Tournament Champions—an incredible achievement!

· Seven SYHA teams advanced to the semifinals or finals of their respective CHC tournaments—proof of the hard work and dedication across all levels of our program.

· Our major events—the Golf Tournament, Christmas Tournament, and Blue and Gold Bash—were all outstanding successes. These fundraisers not only support SYHA but also strengthen our sense of community. We encourage more families to get involved next season—it’s a great way to connect and give back.

I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to our Board Members for their continued dedication and leadership, helping SYHA remain a strong and growing program.

To our coaches and support staff, thank you for your passion, time, and commitment—you are the backbone of each team’s success.

And finally, to our parent and family community, thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement. Early mornings, late nights, countless hours in the car and at the rink, your player thanks you!

Looking ahead, registration for the 2025–2026 season is now open. Please note:

· Travel registration will close on May 18th

· House programs will remain open beyond that date

Also, registration for our U18 and U16 Simsbury Rattlers Tier 2 National Bound split season teams is open, with tryouts scheduled for April 12th and 14th.

Lastly, applications for the James Stover Scholarship are now being accepted, with a deadline of August 31st. Details and the application can be found here.

Thank you again for a fantastic season. Wishing you all a wonderful spring and summer—we’ll see you at the rink again soon.

Regards,

Peter Burke
